Welcome to Goodrington School

Thank you for visiting our website.  Sadly, Goodrington School will be closing on 10th July 2019.  Please find below a letter that was sent to our parents confirming the closure.

Dear Parents,

Thank you to those of you who attended the meeting on 26th March 2019 where with regret, I announced that the Lauchlan family have made the difficult decision to close Goodrington School at the end of this summer term 2019 and sell the property at 17 Walden Road.

The school has experienced falling pupil numbers over the last five years as competition in the local area has increased, not only from other independent schools but from a number of local state schools who have opened up nurseries.  Lower pre-school numbers have inevitably impacted on the number of pupils who are entering the Reception class and who then move through the main school.

Furthermore, I explained that the cost of repairing and maintaining a property of this age and size is also extremely prohibitive. Sadly, our small school (like many others) is no longer sustainable in the current economic market.

In the meantime, the Directors of the school would like to reassure parents that Goodrington will continue to operate as normal until the end of the school year on 10th July 2019, to avoid any disruption to our pupils, whose educational and pastoral needs remain of paramount importance to us.

Mrs Ellenby and her dedicated team of staff are committed to ensuring that the summer term will provide an opportunity to reflect on all that is good about Goodrington School.  The successes and achievements of our wonderful pupils will be celebrated, so that they may look back on their last term with fondness and pride.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Archie Lauchlan
