Welcome to Goodrington School

Goodrington is a small independent school with a warm friendly atmosphere that's been successful since 1935.  We specialise in fostering the talents of each pupil and will help your child to achieve their full potential by encouraging self-belief and self-expression, developing confidence and inspiring a thirst for knowledge.

The school is situated at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac in a residential area of Hornchurch. We take pupils from 3 to 11 years of age and prepare them for entrance either to state secondary or to independent schools, in accordance with the wishes of parents and the ability of the child.  There are only four classes in the main school, each one small enough to ensure that every pupil receives individual attention tailored to their needs. Please see our Joining page for further details regarding admissions into our Pre-School and main school.

Our Head TeacherOur Year 6 pupils who left in July 2014 have since moved on to other independent schools such as Christ's Hospital School, New Hall and Brentwood School as well as local secondary and grammar schools.

We have a small team of skilled and dedicated staff.  Mrs Jackie Lawrence, a previous Head Teacher at another local independent school joined us in September 2014 as my new Deputy Head.  Mrs Lawrence also teaches our Year 5 and 6 class and with her vast experience in secondary as well as primary education, she is perfectly placed to boost the learning of our pupils, particularly in respect of 11+ preparation.

We are conscious that education is a partnership between pupils, school and parents and are, therefore, pleased to welcome parents into school whenever they wish to discuss their child’s progress.

Why not come and see for yourself what our school has to offer?  You will be sure of a warm welcome.  Please call the school office on the number below to arrange a visit.

We look forward to meeting you.

Best wishes,

Rosalind Ellenby, Head Teacher
